Minimum weight, maximum aerodynamics

Probably the most efficient aero upgrade for your bike. Thanks to improved aerodynamics, the Kuftschneider (air cutter) saves 8.8 watts of air resistance - at a weight of just 315g. The ergonomic design of the handlebars ensures an aerodynamic and comfortable position - even on long rides. Thanks to compatibility with Token's cable box and spacers, the Luftschneider fits many bike set-ups.

Aerodynamic Optimization: In collaboration with CFD specialist Jens Brix Christensen, we explored many possible cross-sections and designs to optimize them within the constraints of ergonomic and structural requirements.
 
Wind Tunnel Tested:
Since we didn't want to rely solely on CFD, we took the Luftschneider to the legendary GST wind tunnel. It confirmed an improvement of 8.8 W at 45 km/h compared to the already slim ICH stem and a standard handlebar. This equates to a saving of approximately 52 seconds over 40 km. That's comparable to using a deep-profile aero wheel compared to an aluminum rim.
 
Ergonomic Cross Section: A handlebar can only be fast if the rider feels comfortable on it. By shortening it, we've eliminated the sharp trailing edge of a typical aero profile, making it significantly grippier.
 
Short Effective Reach: The reach of your handlebars only tells half the story. Our very rounded transition into the drops places the lever hoods close to the tops, resulting in a short effective reach. The larger radius also allows for easier adjustment of the lever position.
 
Ergonomic and Aerodynamic Width: We consulted several bike fitting and biomechanics experts before deciding on our handlebar widths. They all agreed that traditional 40-44 cm handlebars are too wide for most people. Did you know that the average shoulder width for women is 35 cm and even for men only 40 cm? For this reason, we decided to offer a size smaller than traditionally used. As a nice bonus, a reduced handlebar width also means better aerodynamics.

Ergonomic Flare: A 6° flare ensures a relaxed and aerodynamic position, 2 cm narrower than the drops. This also provides full leverage and more freedom in the wrist when you're hanging in the drops.
 
Lightweight: Thanks to its efficient shape, the Luftschneider weighs only 315 g. That's lighter than most aero handlebar-stem units on the market and roughly the same weight as a lightweight round bar combined with a standard stem. So you get all the aero benefits without the added weight.
 
Wrap It As You Like It: We deliberately chose not to use a step to define the end of the bar tape for several reasons: You have the option to wrap the bar tape in the way that best suits your riding style and road conditions. 
 
Compatible with Token Cablebox: Since cable integration is the new normal, most manufacturers have opted for their own proprietary spacer design. A notable exception is Token's Cablebox, which offers a modular system used by many brands. Therefore, equipping the Luftschneider with Token spacers was an easy decision.
 
GPS Mount: The Luftschneider follows the same mounting standard as many other handlebars on the market and is therefore compatible with many available GPS mounts. The Air Cutter follows the same mounting standard as many other handlebars on the market and is therefore compatible with many available GPS mounts.
 
Lighter and stronger: A step increases stress and therefore the likelihood of manufacturing defects. 
 
More aerodynamic: Without a step, we can maintain the minimum required profile thickness for less frontal area.
