OPEN Cycle

Three words describe OPEN Cycle: bikes, open and simple.

Gerard and Andy from OPEN both live and breathe bikes. Andy’s career spans from downhill racer (back when helmets were

optional!) to CEO of a mountain & road bike company, BMC. Gerard’s career includes co-founding Cervélo, where's he's done

everything from engineering and design to sales, supply chain and marketing.

OPEN means open to new ideas; from the customers, retailers, vendors and OPEN ourselves. Open to show the intricacies of the OPEN products but also the company. Open even to share issues with some of our customers.

If open is the goal, simple is the tool.

“Relentless simplicity” is OPEN's guiding principle. Reduce the number of models and you simplify production, logistics, customer decision making, the website, everything. Avoid traditional advertising or sponsorships and free up precious time. Transfer logistics to third parties and you can focus on what matters most, which in OPEN's case means:

  • Designing better bikes.

  • Connecting with customers.

And when you put it that way, is there really anything else to do?

OPEN U.P. (Unbeaten Path)

The U.P., or Unbeaten Path is a versatile bike made for gravel and adventure road riding wherever you feel like going, on road or off. It puts the rider in a CX/road bike body position, not a mountain bike position, yet it is still comfortable enough for longer rides.

Frame weight is 1,150g for a large and it uses the new thru axle 3T Luteus cross fork.

The dropped driveside stay allows fitting of a true road bike chainring combo while still having enough clearance for a 27.5 x 2.1 mountain bike tire or a large volume 700c (29er) tires, up to 40x700c.

The U.P. uses a 27.2 seatpost and thin, slightly flattened seatstays providing exceptional comfort over rough roads.

The Syntace 12×142 X-12 axle and 15mm thru axle up front allow easy compatability with regular mountainbike wheels.

Includes: fork 3T Luteus II, headset and thru axles

Availability: from July 2015

Weight: 1150g (size L, +/-3%)

Price:  AU$4,199.- (Frame and fork)

Available sizes will be S, M, L and XL sizes.

OPEN 1.0

With the 1.0, OPEN's goal was to build an extremely light, strong and well thought-out hardtail. The result is, at 871g, the lightest 29er hardtail frame in production, the first frame with internal cable routing that protects while being easy to live with, the first mountain bike with BBright, and a frame with a geometry truly developed from scratch for 29er wheels.
